Gangtok, Mar 11 (PTI) The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) today expelled 14 party members, including former MLA Bhoj Raj Rai, for indulging in "anti-party activities".
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by party chief and Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling at Mintokgang yesterday, according to the SDF Publicity Secretary, Prem Karki.
The expulsion of Rai, a two-term legislator from Jorethang in South Sikkim, came after he joined senior SDF MLA P S Tamang who criticised the leadership in May last year following denial of a ministerial berth.
Tamang, however, was spared.
Neither Rai nor Tamang were available for their comments.
