Gangtok: Miss Neeru Sewa was fully receptive and assuring to a Press Club Sikkim delegation led by PCS President Mr. Parasmani Dangal while they placed some demands in a meeting with the Minister at her chamber in State Secretariat office on Wednesday. The PCS demands were: a spacious flat for the club in the building of Science and Technology department at Development Area, a separate directorate in IPR department to deal with advertisements like the DAVP at the centre and increase in tariff of advertisements catered by IPR.
In the discussion that followed, the Minister said the government was very respectful to media and wanted to see media to work as an independent body. She opined that media should not be bias and ascertain the truth before publishing any news item.
She assured the journalists’ delegation, saying she would personally take interest to provide a suitable accomodation for the press club, while informing that the government would construct its own Suchana Bhavan within five years to accommodate IPR department. The delegation invited the Minister to be chief guest at the foundation day function of PCS to be held on 17th July.
