Sikkim team to play in Women’s football tourney in Nepal

Gangtok: Late Madan Bhandari Memorial Cup Open Women Football Tournament will be held at Panther, Nepal, from 8th to 14th March. Women players from Mangalbaria Football Academy of West Sikkim will play in the tournament, Mr. Palden Bhutia, Team Coach, informed Sikkim Reporter over phone.

Total 14 members with the will be leaving on March 10 for this tournament. It is the first time that Sikkim Women’s football team is getting an opportunity for an exposure outside, Mr. Bhutia said, adding, they will play in the tournament on March 11th against Ilam (Nepal).

2010 International year of biodiversity Seven teams from Nepal are Udaipur, Ilam, Jhapa Zilla, Sunsari, Taplaziung, Panther and Morung and one from Sikkim, total eight teams, are participating in the tournament.

Sikkim team comprises of Nima Lamu Bhutia (Captain), Phuti Bhutia, Bhoj Kumari Subba, Lakila Sherpa, Ash Maya Subba, Treza Lepcha, Mongmit Lepcha, Ran Maya Rai, Nim Doma Bhutia, Pabitra Limboo, Phurba Doma Bhutia, binzina Rai and Laku Phuti Bhutia.
