An amusement park - Smile Land

When we think of spending a day with our family and friends by going for an outing or a picnic and enjoy the whole day together with full of excitement, delight and fun, only one place hits our mind i.e. Smile Land, an amusement park cum picnic spot located at Namli, which is 12 kms away from Gangtok, a little ahead of Ranipool on the way to Singtam. Smile Land (expanding in a total area of 7 acres) is located in a very unique and spectacular site surrounded by natural beauty like river and rich vegetation, Sikkim Science Centre, Epica Garden (picnic spot) and floriculture. The children park available at Smile Land offers more fun to the kids and the jogger's park has taken responsibility of keeping the health of the people in a good condition. Sikkim is a hilly region so people miss to carry out things like cycling in the region which is quite difficult and risky even if carrying an immense zeal and desire of doing. Now, the people of all age groups can fulfill their desire of cycling without any fear at Smile Land. Cycles are made available for the kids and adults and they can cycle all over the surroundings of Smile Land in a flat and some wavy land. Angling is another exciting activity provided in the Smile Land for people, so a wonderful opportunity is there who are fond of fishing. For angling, a wonderful lake has been shaped out inside the park. If people, who are not interested in these things, badminton, basketball and volleyball may entertain them or else they can see others having fun from the beautiful wooden sheds built for relaxation.

The provisions for food and accommodation are available in the Resort constructed inside the park so one can also experience vacation at Smile Land. The restaurant of the Resort offers a huge variety of traditional and continental cuisines with optimum hospitality. Banquet hall and conference hall is open at Smile Land for conducting wedding, parties, conferences, events and festivals. It has ample space for parking so no stress for car parking.

Rain disco, basically for those people who love rain, is on its way of completion at Smile Land along with establishment of meditation centre where people can be treated by hydrotherapy. Regarding the principal objective behind opening the amusement park Mr. Basudev Pradhan, proprietor of Smile Land said there is not any idle place in the State where the people can drink in the beauty of surroundings of the Himalayan state that struck in my mind and I began to start constructing it. It will offer entertainment to the people as well as employment, he added. The reason of giving the name Smileland he added the rider that the people of Sikkim always carry a smile on their faces, so the name of the park reflects it. Indeed, Smile Land is a land of dreams and all are welcome to this dreamland. Mr. Pradhan is also the winner of 2005 North East Television People's Choice Award for entrepreneurship at Guwahati.
