Gangtok, Mar 13 (PTI) The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) today defended its decision to expel 14 rebel party leaders and workers for publicly casting aspersion on Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling and voicing disagreement with the ruling party's policies and programmes.
"The rebels have been levelling baseless charges against our leader (Chamling) and running down the SDF government's policies and programmes to make their stay in the party an untenable proposition," party's spokesman Bhim Dahal said in a statement here.
He said contrary to the allegation of the rebels, the SDF had never deviated from its long-term agenda to serve the people and take the state on the path of socio-economic prosperity.
The fact that the people of Sikkim have reposed their faith in the leadership in one election after another since 1994 vindicated that the SDF government has taken right decisions in the public interest, Dahal said.
