Culture minister directs dept officials to implement programmes on time

SE Report GANGTOK, June 27: State Power and Cultural Affairs Minister Sonam Gyatso Lepcha has today directed the department officials to ensure that all the programmes and policies of the government are implemented in time for the welfare of the people. During a coordination meeting of State Culture Affairs and Heritage Department held at the conference hall of Tashiling Secretariat here today, the minister reviewed the progress and the functioning of the department especially various divisions like Archives, Museum, Archaeology, Song and Drama Unit etc. The minister further stressed on the importance of the department in its role of portraying the rich culture of the State to its visiting guests. The department, he said, also could play a major role in alleviating the unemployment scenario by engaging various NGOs in cultural activities. He further directed the department to give top priority to projects like the Nathu La Trade Museum, Nepali Literature and Study Centre, Multi Purpose Community Centre. This was the first meeting held after the new minister took over. It was also directed that emphasis to be laid on strict discipline, transparency, punctuality and team work to be maintained. Earlier, the minister was also apprised by the officers of the various functions and projects being carried out in the Department. The meeting was also attended by Secretary DR Kharel, Special Secretary PN Tamang and other officials of the department. |
