Gangtok, Feb 27 (PTI) In an embarrassment to ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), rebel MLA P S Tamang stayed away from the second part of the winter session underway here to register his protest against Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling.

The four-term MLA, who has not attended the House since taking his oath on May 21 last year has cited personal reasons to explain his absence this time.

Tamang, one-time trusted lieutenant of Chamling, was expected to be present this time to raise questions on public issues and embarrass the Pawan Kumar Chamling government.

“He will surface in the public domain soon with a clear political agenda to take on the present leadership of the ruling party,” Tamang’s aides said.
