‘Poorvotar Natya Samaroh’- a north east drama fest

Gangtok, November 17: National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi in collaboration with Sikkim Culture and Heritage Affairs Department is organizing ‘Poorvotar Natya Samaroh’-a north east drama fest from November 20-30 at Defence Auditorium in Deorali. It was informed in a press meet.

Sujit Kulkarni, Principal of NSD said that drama they perform is not only for entertainment but it imparts knowledge and exhibit the culture and tradition of different states of our country. NSD aim at promoting culture and traditional system of drama, he added.

In the same 10 days programme, 11 drams will be exhibited in which two are Nepali and others including Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Bihari and in other different languages of north eastern states. The Nepali dramas ‘Jharlangi and Siddharth Gautam Dekhi Buddha Samma’ will be performed by the artists of Deep Jyoti Club, Namchi.

The programme coordinator Bipin Kumar said that they have received a very good response in Sikkim in drama. Sikkim ’s future is bright in the field of drama, he said.
